What's the difference between linear feet and square feet?

Linear feet measures length in one dimension (like a line). Square feet measures area in two dimensions (length × width). For example, a 2×6 board that's 10 feet long is 10 linear feet but 10 square feet of area.

How do I convert square feet to linear feet?
