Calculate salt needed for saltwater pools.
Standard is usually 3000-3400 ppm

How to Use This Calculator
1
Calculate Pool Volume
Determine your pool volume in gallons. For rectangular pools: length × width × average depth × 7.5. For circular pools: diameter × diameter × depth × 5.9. Or check pool documentation.
2
Test Current Salt Level
Use salt test strips or electronic tester to measure current salt concentration in ppm (parts per million). For new conversions, current level is 0 ppm.
3
Enter Pool Details
Input pool volume in gallons, current salt level, and desired salt level (typically 3,200 ppm). The calculator determines how many pounds of salt to add.
4
Add Salt and Circulate
Pour calculated amount of salt around pool perimeter. Run pump for 24 hours to fully dissolve and distribute. Retest after 24 hours and adjust if needed. Salt dissolves slowly—don't rush.
